About BSEMany moons ago, sometime in 2004-2005 I stumbled across a website called Bleach Soul of the Killer. Aptly named as it was run by a fellow using the handle "Killer". I started off on the site just the same as most of you who're here today; poking around wanting to play a game dedicated to my new favourite anime at the time; Bleach!
Now, SotK (as it's affectionately known) was a lot different back then. There were only the Gotei 13, you could only play as a Hollow or Shinigami, and while there were Arrancar and Vaizard; they were glitched to hell. The highest NPC hollow you could kill was a Gillian; and you basically capped out around a million SP. After a few months I had helped establish a nice new forum for the site and was taken on as a staff member. Over the following 2 years the game basically stayed the same with Killer losing interest in it. I found out that he only made it for a school project. Then in 2007 The site went dark. Killer was no longer maintaining the server and the site was suspended. I tried for a few months to get in touch with Killer to find out what his intentions were since so many people were still interested in it. That's were our real story begins... |
I offered to take the responsibility of getting the site running again, but I didn't have any of the files, or know-how for coding in PHP and MySQL. (I was an amateur at best who taught himself HTML and some Javascript back in the late 90's) After offering to buy the source code from Killer, he rejected the proposal and gave it freely; even helping to re-establish some of the directories and databases to give me a place to start. I kept the site offline for a few months while I went through the about 30 pages of alien-scripted coding I'd inherited, teaching myself enough PHP and SQL to get the site running again. Which I did in the spring of 2007; and we've been up and running ever since. The site has had many changes along the way; including a name change to Bleach Soul Evolution. People from all over the world have created over a quarter of a million accounts over the years. The site has grown over the years into what you see today, and we are hoping to get bigger and better as we move forward.
