007: Blunt Trauma: Ryūnosuke vs. Baron Quadhorn PRT 1
[Continuation From: Welcome To The Wild's]
-----
____________________
... RYŪNOSUKE'S SHADOW danced on the ground beneath him, as he ran through the streets of Old Town Karakura; it was darkened by the glow of the moon and the LED street lamps that hung above and lit his way. Ryūnosuke figured at least ten minutes had passed since he'd left the Elites Dome and he hadn't even reached the Karasu river bridge yet. "At least ten minutes..." Ryūnosuke noted mentally. So, that meant it was now nine-thirty? "Still too late, way past curfew!" Ryūnosuke exclaimed inwardly. "Shit shit shit! Mom is gonna go ballistic." He could already picture his mother's absolute wrath descending upon him for breaking one of her only two rules. It was already bad, but it got progressively worse with every minute that he grew even later pass his seven o'clock curfew. How had he completely lost track of time?  Well, Ryūnosuke knew exactly 'how' his real question was how he'd allowed himself to do so.

Ryūnosuke could see the train station about half a mile off in the distance. The road ahead was completely empty and silent, but he could see the shadowy frames of people heading in and out of the station. The teenager reached into his pocket again for the fifth time in the last ten minutes, he knew he'd most like find no money to buy a train ticket with, but he was having a very hard time accepting the fact that he'd actually blown all his cash on batting cage tokens.

Sure, enough, his hand came out of his pocket, for the fifth time, just as it had done the four times before --completely empty. "Fuck!" Ryūnosuke shouted. "How could you be this stupid, Ryūnosuke?!", he muttered under his breath. No money meant he had to run the entire way home, which would take him at least an hour and half if he gunned it. And Ryūnosuke was gunning it already, like his life depended on it. He was certain he could run the entire way, not at top speed the whole time, but there was no way he was going to stop; anyone well acquainted with Ryūnosuke's mother Mariko, knew he couldn't afford to...

The Baron was on the prowl once again. It had been an unbearably long time since his last hunt, but thanks to the ingenuity of his tactics, he'd managed to elude the watchful eyes of Shinigami and that pesky group of masked humans alike. The key was to have multiple hunting grounds and to make periodic appearances in each, but only truly hunting in the zones that had the least "heat" when the time actually came to feed. Granted, for Baron Quadhorn the time to feed came often. Also a by-product of his preferred hunting habits. Baron Quadhorn was unique, in that he hunted humans with high Spiritual Pressure exclusively. In his eyes, they were the ultimate source of the spiritual sustenance that he needed in order to achieve his highest form of evolution. The assumption was only logical, only the purest of spiritual essence would assure he attained the purest form of his evolution; and if his past exploits were anything to go by, the Baron was right in his assumptions so far. He'd steadily grown stronger with every kill and neared a stage in which none of the humans or Shinigami he'd encountered stood a fleeting chance against him. Even the masked humans who stalked his hunting grounds could do nothing but record his activity and flee once he'd noticed them. Like scurrying rodents, they were no match for the great Baron Quadhorn.

The night breeze wafted against his tough green fur as he glided through the air and keenly surveyed the city below, sensing out his next potential victim. The thick, whip-like tentacle that the Baron had in place of a left arm, dangled freely by his side. It was split at the tip, like a serpentine tongue, and although the tentacle had a reach of only seven feet (the Baron's own height) the arm was strong and heavy enough to completely splatter a soul with just a single swoop. His right arm more resembled a humanoid one but his forearm was completely covered in fur and ended with a palm bearing three thick appendages that served as fingers, strong enough to crush anything he captured in his grasp. True to his namesake, surrounding the Baron's Hollow mask were two pairs of horns. The lower-most pair extended from beside his mask, were edged like swords, and curved skywards. The upper pair of horns were cone-shaped and protruded from the green fur above his head. The Baron's bottom half was hidden behind green fur from the waist down to his thick ankles, where his legs finally ended with webbed feet that resembled those of a frog.

As he passed over the train station building, the Baron stopped, having sensed a substantial spiritual pressure. He looked down to his right and focused his eyes in the direction from which he sensed the spiritual essence. His vision focused in on a lone soul running straight towards the station. "Perfect", the hollow sneered as he allowed his hulking form to free fall above the station building. He watched to human; a young man wearing a black tracksuit and baseball cap, who also appeared to also have a baseball bat fastened onto his backpack. None of that impressed the Baron, what allured the Hollow was the Reiatsu gushing steadily from the boy's form. It had an intense orange hue and appeared to not be suppressed by the human at all. "Such a waste, but not for long." Declared Quadhorn as he landed atop the station facility, the impact of his landing lightly shook the building, but his target still seemed completely unaware.

The Baron stood to his full height at the edge of the rooftop, he'd be impossible for the boy to miss, if the human could indeed see him. Which was the point he wished to confirm.

Baron Quadhorn's Appearance. (Thanks Rash)

008: Blunt Trauma: Ryūnosuke vs. Baron Quadhorn PRT 2
-----
____________________
... RYŪNOSUKE TURNED left as soon as he reached the train station building and continued to dash straight towards Karasu River bridge. He reckoned it would take him another fifteen minutes to reach the river if he kept his current pace. He felt something strange as he whizzed past the station, it was like a icy shiver that made his heart tremble ever so slightly; but it happened so quickly and passed before he had time to fully comprehend it. So, the teenager simply figured it was just a cold night breeze and kept on running. However, within seconds the chilling sensation returned and this time it lingered in the depths of Ryūnosuke's heart, elevating his pulse. He quickly looked over his shoulder, back at the train station, but there was nothing unusual there. Just an empty, well-lit street with pavement and hedges on both sides.

There was no apparent cause for concern, so why couldn't he shake the feeling that something was awry. Ryūnosuke did his best to dismiss the thought, he couldn't worry about phantom dangers at the moment, not when he had a very real danger to be concerned with waiting for him at home in the form of a furious mother. Ryūnosuke shook his head and picked up his pace, taking deep calculated breaths to preserve his stamina. He needed to run as fast as he could for as long as he could.

"Something is behind me." The thought fired off in his brain like a blaring siren. Ryūnosuke immediately swiveled on his feet and faced the opposite direction completely. He raised his arms and fist defensively and assumed to battle-ready stance. Still nothing there. Still just an empty street. At least that's what his mind told him, but there was still something within; a voice with an origin he couldn't quite pinpoint. Something deep --something deep on an instinctual level-- still cried out to him, "Danger!" it warned.

Ryūnosuke's inhaled deeply and steadied his heart rate. His eyes darted from side-to-side, inspecting the hedges on the sides of the road. He still saw nothing, but the teenager was now convinced of a looming presence nearby. It was dark, sinister, and certainly an immediate threat to Ryūnosuke --someone or something was stalking him...

The Hollow let out a booming cackle as the unsuspecting human ran by without any sign of acknowledging that he existed. A peculiar case indeed, it was uncommon for someone with this much Reiatsu to be unable to see Hollows and other spiritual entities. Uncommon, but not impossible. The Baron leaped from the roof top and into the middle of the street, he maintained a large distance between himself and the human still, and simply watched as the boy looked over his shoulders alertly. It seemed that he could sense Quadhorn's presence to a degree, but he couldn't visually detect him.

The Baron grinned as he the human threw up his fists defensively, "This could be fun.", he thought. The baron bent his knees slightly in preparation for a charge, at the same time he gradually raised his own spiritual presence, hoping to see in what matter it would trigger his prey, if in any matter at all. He hoped to get a thrilling reaction from the boy and would be surely disappointed if the human remained utterly obvious of the mighty predator that hunted it up to the moment of his death. Then, without warning the Baron sprinted forward at blistering speed, he would reach the boy in just seconds. As soon as the soul was within the range of the Baron's whip left arm, the span of exactly 10 feet, the Hollow would swipe it directly at the right side of the boy's head; regardless of whether the human noticed him or not. The force of his whip arm would be heavy and backed with enough force to obliterate the boy's entire head.

009: Blunt Trauma: Ryūnosuke vs. Baron Quadhorn PRT 3
-----
____________________
... RYŪNOSUKE FELT a jolt of terror as the creature's presence seemed to spark alight before him and suddenly became shockingly apparent. Where before he'd only been able to sense that the ominous presence was somewhere nearby, now he could identify that it was undoubtedly in front of him and rapidly approaching. Ryūnosuke's heart-rate spiked as his palms are brow began to sweat, he considered fleeing, but he knew that the presence was closing in too fast and the worst possible thing he could do was turn his back to such a dangerous entity. Besides, where would he run to? There was no way he was going to lead this evil presence back home to his mother. Ryūnosuke had to make a stand here, but he was perplexed, he'd been in fights before, but he had no idea what he was fighting now or how he expected to beat an enemy he couldn't see.

"Use your bat, Ace!", advised a disembodied voice. In the heat of the moment Ryūnosuke thought it had originated from his own thoughts but the voice wasn't his own or any voice he recognized. It was pitched and nasal, as if it had come from a child who was pinching their nostrils shut as the shouted. Ryūnosuke had no time to think about how much the bratty voice annoyed him as he drew his bat from the external slip pocket on the side of his backpack and held the bat grip firmly in both hands. He peered ahead and watched the towering hazy form stop about seven feet away from him. "I can see it!" Ryūnosuke noted mentally upon the realization. He couldn't quite see the creature clearly, just a blurry outline of its body that appeared to teem with waving strands of murky black energy that radiated from the creature's form.

[1] It was good enough for him. Ryūnosuke raised the barrel of his bat up to the side of his head and placed it in the immediate path of the figure's incoming appendage. Ryūnosuke tensed and braced himself for the impact. The tentacle smacked into his bat with a resonating PING and Ryūnosuke was swatted through the air just as quickly as the blow landed. His perception was not distorted as he blurring through the air, in fact, the teenager saw everything quite clearly as he glided over the street, the pavement, and then head-first into the hedge bushes on the roadside. The shrubbery had not done much to cradle his fall as far as he could tell, but luckily his backpack had. Ryūnosuke curled his legs over his head and rolled backwards to his feet, he stopped in a kneeling position with his bat still firmly in his grasp. He could feel swelling on the right side of his head where the tapper of his bat smacked against his skull when the tentacle hit. He could also feel a warm liquid on the side of his face and knew it was blood right away. "You okay, Ace? Need me to call a timeout?" The bratty disembodied voice asked with a tone that came off more passive than actually concerned. "Could you shut the Hell up!" An agitated Ryūnosuke hissed back as he surveyed his surroundings. It didn't seem like the creature had pursued him further yet. Perhaps it thought him dead after that hit, Ryūnosuke knew he would have been had he not reacted and guarded himself in time. Much to his annoyance, he kind of had the bratty voice to thank for his survival. At least for now, it seemed the invisible owner of this voice was on his side. "Ace!", it alerted.

"What!" Ryūnosuke spat back, fully accepting the fact that he was speaking aloud to a voice most likely coming from his head.

"He's still out there, in the street... and he knows you're alive. So, what's the play?"

Ryūnosuke started to stand, his right leg buckled half-way through and he nearly collapsed. He caught himself before his knee hit the ground again and then stood up to his full height. He could see the murky form of the creature in the distance, lit up by the street lights. It stood there in the street, motionless besides the side-to-side slithering of that tentacle arm, and facing him directly. There was no visible expression from which Ryūnosuke could draw his conclusion, but he was positive that the creature was taunting him. "The play," Ryūnosuke's left hand grabbed his shoulder as he rolled his right, bat-wielding, arm to loosen it of any tension. "Is a full offense." The teenager dug the ball of his right foot into the dirt inhaled sharply and then kicked off in a sprint towards the creature. He kept his eyes sharply focused on the shadowy figure the entire time. "I'm gonna smash this fucker to bits!" Ryūnosuke declared as he reached the hedge. He leaped forward about three feet off the ground, just high enough to clear the bushes, and landed on the pavement. The Hollow was still about three yards away, but Ryūnosuke could clear that in no time. He kicked off from his right foot again at charged straight at the creature with his bat drawn back and ready to strike.

Despite his bold declaration, Ryūnosuke still had no idea of how he expected to beat the creature. He could see its silhouette now, which helped immensely, but how was he to know where to attack the creature and what it's weak points were. Aiming for the head was the logical answer, and although the teenager could make an educated guess that the creature's head was located square between the four pointed protrusions sticking out of the creature's upper-half, he'd have to avoid the tentacle arm, the right arm, and those four bladed protrusions to reach the head. He didn't imagine the creature would just allow him to do that. The best he could hope to do was hit the creature until something broke or it ran away. That all assuming he wasn't killed first.

[2] "Works for me!" Ryūnosuke muttered as he entered the seven foot range of the creature's tentacle arm. He was particularly weary of the slithering appendage, although the other arm, muscular and almost as thick as Ryūnosuke was wide, was equally life-threatening in the teenager's eyes. Ryūnosuke swung his bat forwards from the right directly at the shoulder of the tentacle arm. He tried to stay on the outside of the left shoulder. This meant the creature's right arm would have to extend across the left tentacle in order to reach him. Anywhere the creature moved, Ryūnosuke would attempt the to maintain his position just to the right of the creature's left shoulder.

The serrated jaws of Baron's Hollow mask split open with a bellowing roar of laughter as the boy charged towards from behind the hedges. "Yes! Show me your fighting spirit!" He cackled as his soon-to-be meal leaped over the bushes and onto the pavement. "Yes, set your soul ablaze with the will to survive!" The Hollow waved his tentacle arm behind him before suddenly whipping it forwards as the human closed in on him. The human wouldn't be hit with split tip of the tentacle but rather the middle of it's length. The boy seemed to be trying to avoid the Baron's right side, but by sticking to the left, he was inadvertently placing himself in the path of Quadhorn's attack.

Should the human find a way to by-pass the Hollow's attack he would swing his bat directly at his left shoulder. The Hollow would answer this by thrusting his shoulder leftwards into the human's metal bat. At the same time he began his counter attack. "Fight! Fight and have hope!" He roared; as his tentacle arm finished its previous swing the hollow would adeptly allow it to loop around his front, under his right arm, and around his back. Then, the split ends of his whip-arm would reach for the boy, at precisely the same moment that the Baron shoved his shoulder against the boy's bat. If his tentacle managed to capture its target, the Baron would instantly reverse the rotation of his tentacle, rapidly uncurl it from around the trunk of his form and sling the boy through the air to his left. This time the boy would collide with the hard asphalt. "I will enjoy watching that hope fade drain from your eyes as you beg for your life before I tear you apart and feast on your mangled remains!" The Hollow taunted as the boy soared through the air for a second time.

The Baron launched himself through the air just as the boy would land. "HA HA HA!" Quadhorn cackled from above. The Hollow appeared just ten feet above the ground with his right fist raised above his head. The child might have had ample time to dodge the Baron's next move, but it would be impossible for the boy to know that the Baron's next attack wasn't even meant for him. However, if by some stroke of terrible luck the boy did not manage to react in time, he would surely be smashed into a gory paste as the Baron's right fist crashed down onto the street like a meteor. The force of the strike would cause a small crater as well as send a violent tremor through the ground that would surely throw the boy off balance if he was on his feet. That was the opportunity the Hollow sought to finish off his prey. In a dexterous display of control over his tentacle limb, Baron Quadhorn directed his whip-like tentacle to reach out for the boy, wherever he was. Should that be within its seven foot reach. One of its pointed tips would harden, with the intent of skewering the boy through the center of his chest.

010: Blunt Trauma: Ryūnosuke vs. Baron Quadhorn PRT 4
-----
____________________
... RYŪNOSUKE SAW the center of the tentacle appendage whip towards him as he rapidly approached, prepared to bash the creature in its shoulder with his metal bat. At his current speed, the teenager wouldn't have time to change his direction before the tentacle hit him; but that was fine, Ryūnosuke had no intention of deviating from his target.

[1] Ryūnosuke ducked just as the tentacle snapped and tore through the air above him, he felt a violent shift of the air above his back as he narrowly evaded certain death for a second time. "Way to go, Ace!" The disembodied voice commended him. Ryūnosuke didn't respond. For one, his focus was entirely on the creature in front of him, but secondly, the teenager was too terrified to speak regardless. He'd successfully pulled through for a second time, sure, but there was no way to tell if he would continue to be this fortunate. Ryūnosuke was horrifyingly aware that all it would take was one bad move --one misstep-- and he could be killed. Still, Ryūnosuke did not waver in the slightest. He'd always been good in a pinch, it was a skill he developed from years of playing competitive sports, namely Baseball. He was the team captain, the ace, and the unwavering symbol of strength of will and heart among his peers. No matter how dire a game seemed, no matter how high the deck was stacked against them, his subordinates knew they could count on Ryūnosuke to see the game through to the bitter end. His ability to stand confident and proud, and face any opponent head on. That was why they called him "King".

[2] Just after he evaded the tentacle, Ryūnosuke took a heavy step forwards with left leg and planted his foot firmed on the ground. The grip of his bat was now held tightly in both his hands as the teenager rotated his entire body counter-clockwise, with his left heel serving as the axis. The result was that Ryūnosuke's metal bat swung for its intended target with all human's might. A sudden gush of pride overcame the teenager and he cracked a victorious grin. His fleeting victory, however, was terribly short-lived. Ryūnosuke's eyes went wide with shock and horror as the bat bounced back. The creature had lunged its shoulder into it before the bat reached the peak of its swing. The strength of the monster's counter was enough to overwhelm Ryūnosuke's own and completely deflect his weapon.

[3] Stunned with shock as his bat recoiled, Ryūnosuke had no time to react as the tentacle looped around the creature's back and grabbed the teenager by his waist. It seemed as if the split end of the whip-like arm had only just captured him before Ryūnosuke felt himself being flung around and tossed through the air again. He faced the creature's shadowy form as gravity naturally pulled his body down to the tarmac. The teenager landed hard on his back; his collision, again, padded by this backpack, but that was the smoothest part of his fall. The hazardous skips, and rolls that followed were not nearly as graceful. When Ryūnosuke finally wobbled to his feet just an instant later, his tracksuit jacket and pants had been torn and burnt in numerous locations, mainly along his shoulders and arms. The skin of both the teenager's knees, his left elbow and his left cheek were visibly scrapped and bloodied.

Ryūnosuke winced in agony as his body cried out, ripe with the intense pain of his many injuries. Nevertheless, the teenager took a deep breath and steeled his nerves. He noticed a numbness in his left shoulder, no doubt a result of him landing on it a bit too roughly. It stung, and inhibited on his full range of motion with his left arm, but Ryūnosuke could power through it. He had no choice but to power through it. The creature was high in the air above him and crashing down. Ryūnosuke had enough time to dart off to the left before the creature slammed its right fist into the ground. After assessing the situation within milliseconds, the teenager predicted he would be in no immediate danger from the right fist after it smashed through the asphalt. Even if only for a moment to plan his next attack, the creature's right was the safer side to be on. What the teenager had no way of predicting were the vibrating waves of energy that caused the ground to quake. However. What neither Ryūnosuke nor the Baron had any way of predicting was the effect those violent waves of spiritual energy would have on the young spirit.

[4] Yes. The ground did tremor beneath the teenager's feet, but so too did a latent source of power within the human. As the creature's vibrating energy made contact with Ryūnosuke's body it tore apart the last shackles that kept Ryūnosuke from realizing his own immense spiritual power and pulled back the veil from the hidden spiritual realm around him. Ryūnosuke could now see the tremors as pulsating waves of dark green energy bellowing within the ground. He could feel his own body swelling with a similar energy as he regained his footing. He could now clearly see the creature's entire body for what it truly was. It made it no less terrifying to behold, but the creature was no longer masked in a shadowy darkness. Ryūnosuke saw everything clearly, its dark green fur, its two pairs of horns, the gaping hole at the center of its chest, and its frightening face made up of a white mask with a curved jaw of serrated teeth. The mask featured some tribal markings that resembled warpaint on the forehead, face, and chin areas.

[5] More importantly, Ryūnosuke could clearly see the the pointed tip of the creature's tentacle piercing through the air towards his chest. Strangely, it appeared to be moving at a much slower pace than before. In fact, the tentacle now moved at a speed only marginally greater than the baseball pitches he could effortlessly hit out of the air. With elegant swiftness, Ryūnosuke slid his left foot behind his right one, pivoted on the tips of his left toes, and deftly twirled counter-clockwise in a single rotation. He stopped directly facing the left side of the launched tentacle he'd just completely evaded.

[6/7] In that very moment, Ryūnosuke's own spiritual pressure would go ablaze around his being. Its burnt orange hue and formation evoked the vision of an raging flame that engulfed Ryūnosuke whole. His narrow hazel eyes were also alight with the intense glow of his Reiatsu. Just as instantly as Ryūnosuke's energy spiked, his right arm appeared to have risen high above his head with his bat ready to strike a crushing downwards blow. The strike would come down on the tentacle with such force that a shock wave from the blow would leave a massive crack in the asphalt below the extended appendage. Ryūnosuke would raise and bring down the bat immediately afterwards with the intent of striking the tentacle again. The second blow would be equally devastating to the tentacle and the street pavement.

OOC: Sorry for the delay (T~T)

It all happened in a flash for the great hunter Hollow. The Baron could do nothing be stand frozen with awe as the human appeared burst into a vibrant dark-orange flame as an immense amount of Spiritual Pressure suddenly flooded from his form. The Baron had previously chosen this human to be his prey due to having sense a portion of this great Reiatsu that was leaking ever-so-steadily from the boy. However, this was different, the amount of Reiatsu gushing forth from the human now resembled something more akin to a ruptured dam. The sheer intensity and volume of spiritual essence out-pouring from the boy was of a level the great Baron Quadhorn had never witnessed from a human in all the hundreds of years of his existence. In fact, he'd rarely witnessed this level of spiritual power even among the strongest of his own kind.

Of course, his Tremor ability was completely negated by the boy's Reiatsu, the ability would have no effect on an entity with such a massive Spiritual Pressure. What the Baron could not fathom was that such a power was possessed by a simple human who couldn't even fully realize the presence of the Hollow merely seconds ago. Quadhorn's jaw formed a grin that stretched the full length of his mask. This boy had proven himself to be the Hollow's greatest prey yet. He thought this as his pointed tentacle, still pierced through the air towards the human at blistering speed. The Baron knew he'd been feasting on the boy's Reiatsu-rich corpse very soon. "What splendid Spiritual Power, I will gobble it all up!" The Baron roared as his tentacle arm reached its target.

Suddenly, the boy appeared to blur to the left and the Baron's attack seemed to pass through him. The two attacks on his tentacle landed before the Baron could even comprehend that the human moved. Quadhorn saw and heard nothing of it, it happened too fast, but he could feel it. A severe jolt of excruciating pain that scorched his senses. The Hollow retracted his tentacle and bellowed in agony. His cry was so deafeningly loud it rumbled the air around him. The Hollow's body seemed to move on its own and the Baron jumped a great distance backwards. Once he landed the Baron was overcome with anger at the fact. Why had he retreated? Was it an instinctual? Has his body moved as the result of a subconscious desire to distance himself from a legitimate threat? This puny human, NO, impossible! There was no way this human had frightened him, not even for a second!

The Baron observed his tentacle, it was severely bruised and battered in the place it had been struck by the boy's bat. The rough pale green flesh was busted open and swelled, the tear in the flesh resembled the tear in a ripped piece of cardboard. It had cracked terribly under the sheer blunt impact that crushed even the pavement, despite not having touched it. It didn't matter, although seething with pain, the Baron could still use his tentacle. "I will... DESTROY YOU!!" The Baron declared with a loud guttural tone. Enraged, he charged towards the human, lowered his head, and pointed his four horns directly at his target with the intention to impaling him. After that, the Hollow would try to crush the human's body with three massive punches with its right fist aimed for the human's head.

011: Blunt Trauma: Ryūnosuke vs. Baron Quadhorn PRT 5
-----
____________________
... RYŪNOSUKE COVERED his ears with his hands as the creature roared. The roar was so deafening that it caused him to flinch in his place, unable to move as the loud shaking voice nearly forced him to his knees. "Hang in there, Ace!" The nasal voice from before shouted out to him, it was the only thing the teenager could hear clearly as all other sounds were drowned under the painful screeching in his ears. Once the roar ended, Ryūnosuke looked up at the monster, who'd managed to jump away and create some distance between them.

Ryūnosuke glared at brutish enemy in front of him as it threatened to destroy him. The teenager was still fearful for his life, but at least now he was more confident in his ability to fight back. He'd landed two of his attacks and the monster was bleeding. Ryūnosuke couldn't explain the strange power surging throughout his body or what had activated it to begin with. Regardless of all that, the important thing to Ryūnosuke was that this new power had at least evened the battle --maybe even placed him at a slight advantage.

[1/2/3/4] Ryūnosuke inhaled deeply as the creature charged towards him. He held up his bat with both arms, prepared to block all the creature's attacks head on. The creature's horns were the first to hit. Ryūnosuke felt the force of the impact vibrate painfully through his arms, but surprisingly he wasn't rocketed through the air. Instead, he stood his ground firmly, and slid only a few inches backwards. Next followed the creatures three punches, all of which Ryūnosuke blocked by angling his bat upwards to intercept each fist. With each downward hit, the force behind the attack cracked the asphalt under the teenager's feet, but that was all they had done.

[5/6/7/8] "My turn." Ryūnosuke muttered flatly as a flash of his orange energy sparked alight in his eyes. "Get 'em!", cheered the childish voice just as Ryūnosuke jabbed the blunt tip of his bat directly at the center of the creature's mask. He suspected that the monster would either attempt to dodge the attack or block it with one of its arms. Whichever the creature chose didn't matter, as the first attack only served as an opening for Ryūnosuke to continue his assault. The teenager would pursue the creature and swing his bat three more times, targeting its face or whatever the creature tried to put between its face his bat.

The great Baron Quadhorn growled as the human blocked his horns. It was not an outcome he'd expected at all, in fact, it had never been done before. To see one of his strongest attacks repelled so easily furthered his anger and frustration. "This should not be possible!"  The Hollow thought as he swung his punches down at the human boy who blocked each one with his metal bat. "How is this puny human so powerful?!!" he pondered, growing ever more infuriated.

"JUST DIE!!!!" The Baron roared as he raised his arm to strike down with a fourth punch. As his fist beamed down over the human, the boy pointed his bat at the Baron's face and lunged it towards him. The blunt end of the bat bashed dead center in the middle of Quadhorn's mask, at the same moment his fist would have hit the boy's left temple. The Baron reeled back and cried in pain, his tentacle immediately coiled around the spaces between his horns and covered his mask. It was his most effective defensive measure, reserved for only the most dire of situations when the Baron was truly fearful for his life. It ensured no further attacks could reach his mask directly, while also providing a visor-like gap between the defense from which the Hollow could see his surroundings. The enemy would still be in danger from the Hollow's fist and his four horns. Although that fact seemed not to deter the human boy in the slightest.

He'd launched himself towards the Hollow and attacked again, landing another three hits on the Baron's tentacle. Quadhorn could see the blood from his horribly battered whip-like limb pouring down over his red eyes and splashing from the boy's bat with every strike. Still, the Baron did not lower his defense. He used to moment that the boy's third swing was closing in to retaliate and swung his fist, trying to hit the boy's left side. He was aware of the possibility that the boy might block but dodging was much less likely. He possibly had the boy cornered. The Baron raised his foot and charged it with his energy before slamming it on the ground, producing a tremor that violently shook the ground once more. This tremor was much stronger than the last and would likely still take effect if the boy was caught in it. However, the Baron would not spare a second to confirm whether or not the tremor worked as planned, instead he would ram his horns forwards again, hoping to viciously drive them through the human's body.

012: Blunt Trauma: Ryūnosuke vs. Baron Quadhorn PRT 6
-----
____________________
[1]... RYŪNOSUKE'S VISION flashed white as the monster's fist connected directly with his left temple. He was so focused on his own attack that he hadn't noticed the Hollow's fist coming down a fourth time at all. Still, even as the hit knocked him slightly to the right, the teenager followed through with the rest of his attacks. All of which landed squarely on target. The three bashes with his bat had yet again left the monster's tentacle limb swollen, bruised, and ruptured like a busted lip. Each of his attacks drew blood that splattered across Ryūnosuke's arms and torso.

[2] The creature attempted to sneak in another punch at Ryūnosuke's left side as he swung his bat the third time, but the human had been watchful of the right arm, after he roughed the last blow, due to his own carelessness. Ryūnosuke wouldn't make the same mistake again. As he swung the bat with the right arm, the teenager curled and tensed the muscles of his left arm at his side; bracing himself for the fist as his energy flared up. The blow landed just where Ryūnosuke intended it to, but unfortunately, much harder than he anticipated. Ryūnosuke's surging powers might have desensitized him to the pain, but they did not repair the damage that had been previously inflicted on his left arm. Though his left arm had been fully defended from the attack now, his injured shoulder gave in under the impact of the punch, and Ryūnosuke's elbow was rammed into his left rib cage. He heard and felt several of his ribs crack under the force of the hit, as an intense pain shot through his body like an electric volt. Ryūnosuke winced in agony. "Dammit, that's two mistakes already. What's going on with me all of a sudden?" , the teenager asked himself. "Stay focused, Ace! Your awakened powers have kept you in the fight this long, but you're not used to them yet. You gotta gauge your limits or you'll risk throwing the game!"

[3/4] "I know that already!" Ryūnosuke grunted as he noticed the creature raise its foot, he could also see the dark-green energy building within it and he had a good prediction of what was coming. Ryūnosuke, leapt into the air just as the monster stomped its foot on the ground. "That same trick won't work twice, dumbass!" Ryūnosuke spat angrily. "Tell 'em, Ace!" Ryūnosuke, swung his bat in a forwards clockwise swipe across his front, at the creature's plunging horns. A flurry of sparks and a resounding PING! burst between the two as Ryūnosuke's bat clashed with the bladed bottom pair of horns.

[5/6] The force behind the monster's ram knocked Ryūnosuke backwards through the air, but the teenager had anticipated it. Rather, he planned on it. As he glided backwards through the air, his left hand reached into his pocket and pulled out a small beige cloth pouch, half full of metal tokens. Ryūnosuke's remaining tokens from the Elites Dome. Ryūnosuke smirked as he tossed the pouch upwards at a right angle, precisely in the path of his bat, which he'd already outstretched back the full extension of his right arm. "BATTER UP!" The disembodied voice chanted as Ryūnosuke swung his bat towards the pouch in the immediate direction of the creature. The barrel of his metal bat shredded the cloth pouch into flaking bits of material that puffed through the air like a explosion of confetti. In that very instant twelve coin-shaped tokens fired straight at the monster's face. The tokens blurred through the air like twelve shooting stars, heated to the point of being the equivalent of .30 caliber bullets fired from a machine gun. The force of his swing twirled Ryūnosuke's body in a leftwards spin, and he completed a 360 as he landed and slid back five feet to a halt.

[7] The teenager suddenly shot forwards at a blistering pace, making a beeline for the monster, hoping to use his last attack as a cover for his next one. Ryūnosuke again stuck to the creature's left, aware that its tentacle arm decommissioned and if the monster did try to use it, the teenager would notice long before the whip-like appendage could uncoil from the creature's face to do him any harm. Ryūnosuke closed in rapidly and with precision accuracy. He swung his bat at the side of the monster's left knee. Regardless of if the monster fell or not Ryūnosuke would then dart around to the its back and raise his bat high above his head, prepared to bring it crackling down on the monster's spine like a rod of lightning.

The volleys of small metal projectiles took the Baron by complete surprise. He left arm was utterly defenseless as the 12 bits of heated metal shot through the already brutalized flesh of his tentacle, penetrating it like bullets; but at least his face was protected. The Hollow shouted out in pain as the coins burnt his arm from the inside. However, the boy did not relent and attacked once again; emboldened by the fact that his projectile attack had distracted Hollow.

Quadhorn had barely recovered from the coin attack when he felt a sharp pain in the side of his left knee. Simultaneously, there was a sickening crack sound as the Hollow's felt its knee snap and bend in a direction it should never bend in naturally. As the Baron collapsed on it's left side, the Hollow instantly realized that the boy was now behind him, and although he was too far into his fall to catch himself, that did not mean that he could not defend himself or even attack. The Baron twisted his body clockwise as he fell, swinging his muscular right arm backwards and bringing his fist in an earth-bound slam over the boy's head, attempting to flatten him. "JUST DIE, YOU INSECT!" The hollow bellowed in rage.

As he landed on his back, the Hollow would turn his head to face the boy. In that moment the Hollow built up an orb of dark green energy at the tip of each of his horns. The great Baron then fired each of the 4 orbs at the human. "DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE!" He roared as each blast blistered towards the boy with an explosive boom. The kickback of each blast caused the Hollow to slide back slightly. The attacks would be weaker than his true Cero, but they were strong enough to distract the boy while the Baron mended the wound on his knee. The boy probably had no idea that the Hollow could twist and harden the fur on his legs and torso in order to form a sort of cast or bandage. In addition to his natural, although limited, regenerative powers as a Hollow, the Baron would be back on the move again soon.

013: Blunt Trauma: Ryūnosuke vs. Baron Quadhorn PRT 7
-----
____________________
[1]... RYŪNOSUKE tensed as the creature's fist came colliding downwards over him. "JUST DIE, YOU INSECT!" Ryūnosuke tightened his fingers around the grip of his bat as the monster shouted. With the bat raised above his head, the teenager guarded against the attack and then jumped several feet backwards to create some distance. Ryūnosuke noticed the orbs on the tips of the monster's horns as they fired towards him.

[2/3/4/5] "DIE!" The teenager swung his bat at the first one, swatted it out of the air, cast off to explode on the pavement to his left. "DIE!" He then darted to the right, dodging the second, before he charged directly at the creature. "DIE! DIE!" He blocked the third and fourth orbs with the barrel of his bat as he advanced. The orbs exploded against his bat and flares of dark-green energy caught the sleeves of Ryūnosuke's jacket. The boy could smell the scent of burnt material as he closed in on the creature, still downed by the earlier attack to its knee. Finally, the monster appeared to have finished its attacks and given Ryūnosuke just enough time to retaliate.

[6] "Oi, I don't think you get it!" Ryūnosuke shouted angrily back at the creature as he suddenly launched himself forward, seeming to simply blur through the air before appearing right in front of the creature's face. "You keep blabbing on about killing me over and over." Ryūnosuke stomped down on the inside flat of the monster's bottom right horn, ensuring that it was unable to move. "It's really pissing me off. So, why don't you try it." Ryūnosuke raised his bat high above his head with both arms, mustered every molecule of his strength and seemingly summoned the entire might of his strange powers at once willingly. This surprised the disembodied voice, which shouted out to Ryūnosuke in protest. "Wait, Ace! You can't do that-" The voice, however, was too late. "DIE!" Ryūnosuke swung his bat down as he roared the word. His bat would hit the bottom left horn, across from the one he was standing on. His attack was so powerful that the immense Spiritual Pressure behind the hit would create a crater two yards wide under the monster.

[7/8] "DIE!" The teenager repeated with another equally devastating swing of his bat. "Ace, you have to stop!" Ryūnosuke paid the voice no heed, raised his bat and struck the creature's horn a third time.

[9] After the third strike Ryūnosuke's vision blurred for just a second. At the same time he felt his entire body heat up, as if he'd been suddenly beset with an intense fever. Additionally, he now felt a 'sizzling'  in his arms, it felt as if they were being repeatedly pricked by thousands of heated needles at once. Nonetheless, oblivious to the true implications of these strange sensations, "ARGH, YOU'RE DONE FOR!" Ryūnosuke swung his bat downwards over the creature's horn for a fourth time. "Ace, don-!"

CRACK!

Ryūnosuke's eyes widened with horror as his bat whirled through the air over his shoulder and pinged against the pavement as it fell. His vision blurred in and out of complete darkness and vaguely being able to see his hands and arms in front of him. His bat, why had he suddenly lost his hold on it? The teenager wondered as he tried to focus on his hands. His vision cleared just long enough for him to get his answer and he gasped as his heart rate seemed to halt. "M-my hands..!" he chocked, as he observed that all ten of his fingers had suddenly been broken; bent and twisted horribly out of their natural form, while his arms were both covered in dozens of bleeding lacerations that appeared from nowhere. "You pushed your limits too far! You gotta run!"

Ryūnosuke heard the voice, and tried to move, but realized that his legs, muscles shaking and numbed with pain, would not move. "Don't just stand there, Ace!"

"I can't! I can't move!" Ryūnosuke shouted back at the voice. The teenager gasped, struggling to catch his breath, and glanced down at the creature below him. Sweat rolled down the wrinkles of his pained, terror-stricken grimace. The teenager had but one thought as the monster looked back at him.

"Shit... I'm gonna die!"

"You keep blabbing on about killing me over and over." The boy muttered coldly and stomped on Quadhorn's bottom right horn.

"Get away from me, you maggot!" the Hollow bellowed, as he thrashed his one good leg and arm behind him, attempting to reach for the boy at an impossible angle, but even with all his struggle he could not seem to shake the boy off of him. "How dare you place your foot on me, I am the great Baron Quadhorn!" The Baron was cut off as the boy spoke to him directly again. "It's really pissing me off. So, why don't you try it." The Baron watched as the boy raised his bat high above him and suddenly flared his Spiritual Pressure again. "W-Wait, hold on!" The Hollow started to beg, but them remembered his place as a being much greater than the pathetic human, there was no way his pride would allow him to beg for mercy. Impossible! "Listen to me you miserable-!"

"DIE!" The Baron managed only a shrill gasp as the strike crashed down on his horn with an exploding boom and crunch as the asphalt under him crumbled to bits. The Hollow felt as if his face had suddenly been crushed under the weigh of a hundred tons of force. His eyes bulged outwards with each strike; both of them popping clear out of their sockets felt more like an inevitability than an actual paranoia. There was nothing irrational about the Baron's fear at that moment. Enraged, the Hollow began to shout, but managed only to slur his words, "Y-you... fuwa-kin' homan-!"

"DIE!" The boy struck again, and the Baron felt his brain bash against the inside of his skull as blood shot out of his ears.

"I...k-k-k-kil KILL YO-" The third strike landed and The Hollow completely lost consciousness. It was the impact of the fourth strike that stirred him back awake. As the Baron blinked his eyes open slowly, he seemed to have momentarily forgotten where he was entirely. Aside from the unbearable throbbing pain that rumbled on in his head like an earthquake of agony, the Baron had lost all control of his body from the waist down. He was deaf in both ears, but only blind in his left eye. With the other, he could see double of the human boy standing over him. Just standing over him, visibly terrified and seemingly unable to move.

"Heh-" The Hollow snickered as he shakily leaned forwards, the boy naturally began to fall over backwards and he had only just begun to fall when the great Baron built his energy in the palm of his right hand and smacked the boy through the air with all his might. He groaned at the satisfaction of feeling and hearing several of the boy's bones snap and break against his palm right before the puny human careened through the air and landed sickeningly on the pavement 20 meters away. "HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!" The Hollow cackled, pleased that his strike had without doubt critically injured the boy, who would most likely die within minutes if he hadn't died already. Still, the Hollow grunted afterwards, in his blind rage, he'd knocked his prey too far away, now he'd have to crawl other to the human in order to devour it.

The Baron wasted no time, rolled over on his belly and began to drag his body across the tarmac, it was an extremely slow and extremely excruciating endeavor but one the Hollow took nonetheless; all while salivating at the mouth with anticipation. Oh, how he would enjoy devouring the flesh and soul of this human boy. It was true the best feast was a feast hard earned and surely he'd earned this one. There was no doubt, that immense Reiastu the human boy had displayed, that he had locked within his fragile body, that was the final component. The prime ingredient to trigger the Baron's next evolution. "Fucking human... you're mine! All that Spiritual Power... It's mine! HA HA HA!" The Hollow muttered and grunted proudly as he crawled to the boy at a snail's pace, but with the eagerness of a tiger running down it's prey. "Hehahha, boy, I'm gonna eat you!" The Baron teased, drool pouring from the sinister grin of his jaws.

Then, the Hollow's grin suddenly twisted into a frown. "NO!" He roared as he sensed the other Reiatsu signatures lurking in the direction of the boy. It was those annoying masked humans again! They'd finally shown themselves, or had they been there all along. "NO!" The Baron suddenly began to claw at the pavement much more aggressively, trying to hasten his pace to his rightful prize. "NO! NO! NO! NO!" Much to his rage and frustration, there was no point, he'd barely moved any faster and, as if to spit in the face of his greatest dream and ambition, four shadows formed around the boy. "YOU FUCKING MASKED BASTARDS!" The Hollow roared, slamming his fist on the pavement causing it to quake. The four shadows visibly shuddered, just as they always did in his presence. Normally, they dared not approach him, in fact at his best he could easily take them all on.

However, in his current state, he'd be lucky to get one of them. It enraged the Baron to no end. After all his hard effort, all he endured, and while his ultimate prize was right there in front of him, not even 10 meters away, he had no choice but to retreat. "YOU-" The Hollow spat, frothing at the serrated jaws of his mask, "YOU COWARD COCKROACHES! HOW DARE YOU! HOW DARE YOU DENY ME MY HUNT!" The Baron slammed his fist again. "GIVE HIM TO ME! GIVE HIM TO ME, DAMN YOU!" The Baron begged, though he knew the masked ones would not listen. He watched as the two "strongest" masked humans stepped forwards, out of the darkness, and into the light of one of the street lamps. They were the Kappa and the Byakko. They spoke no words, but advanced with caution as the other two followed closely behind them, the Houou and the Kitsune. "COCKROACHES!" The Baron cried again, a pool of black energy formed on the ground beneath him, a portal back to the Hollow home realm of Hueco Mundo. The agony of being forced to retreat pained the great Baron more than any of the wounds the boy had inflicted, but Quadhorn knew his current position. Roaches that they were, he could not now see them as such now. They were a pack of cackling hyenas -and he was a wounded lion. "I WILL BE BACK, I WILL TAKE WHAT'S RIGHTFULLY MINE AND THEN I WILL MASSACRE ALL OF YOU RODENTS!" He roared his promise as his form lowered into the portal as if being swallowing beneath the surface of a black sea. The Kappa and Byakko began to chase, but they were too late. As the Great Baron retreated safely he bid them a final harrowing threat. "MARK MY WORDS, YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE LAST OF THE GREAT BARON QUADHORN!"

014: The End Of Blunt Trauma
-----

____________________
... RYŪNOSUKE LAID motionless on his back in a pool of his own blood as he looked up at the full moon above him. There was no more pain in his left side, in fact he could feel nothing there at all. Although the four masked individuals who arrived could clearly see that his left arm had been broken at the elbow and the snapped bones were stabbed into his side. The left side of his torso was deformed with the imprint of the Baron's palm crushed into it and his ribs were shattered and punctured through his lungs, stomach, and liver. Ryūnosuke couldn't feel his left arm, but he felt the broken bones stab into his organs with every breath he struggled to take and every time he instinctively swallowed the blood that gradually built up in his throat. "I'm swallowing blood, shouldn't I spit it out?" The teenager thought, among other things; his mind no longer held on to most thoughts long enough to fully consider them, even the pain seemed to fade in and out periodically. "I feel cold." He thought as the four shadows passed over him. "People are here, I wonder if it's the police... I should warn them."

He could hear the monster shouting angrily, and swallowed down the blood in his throat with a wince. "wai-" he choked weakly, his voice could barely be heard and the pain in his lungs forced him to let out a silent scream. Luckily, he saw one of the shadows stop from the corner of his eye. "Kanako-chan, I think he's still alive.", said the shrouded form as it turned and approached the teenager. The voice was soft and feminine and sounded as if it belonged to a child. Ryūnosuke swallowed blood again as the shadow sat at his side, he watched a masked face loom over his chest and inspected its odd shape. The mask was white with a bird face painted on it in black, red, yellow, and blue. There was something majestic about the blend of colors that reminded Ryūnosuke of a phoenix rather than an average avian creature. "What an odd thing to fixate on." Ryūnosuke thought to himself before he took note of the sweet scent of perfume he could now smell. "Mint chocolate, that smells nice." Ryūnosuke smiled as his vision became blurry with a sudden build up of tears that flowed freely from his eyes and streamed down the sides of his face. "Mom loves mint chocolate, I should have bought some to take home."

"He's alive but he doesn't have much time if we don't help him. Kanako-chan, what should I do?" The girl with the phoenix mask asked earnestly as she raised her head from  Ryūnosuke's chest. 'Time' was the word Ryūnosuke's mind lingered on at that moment."Time? I completely lost track of the time again. How late is it now?" , he thought. "H-hey," Ryūnosuke called out softly, there as a faint wheeze in his brittle tone. Hearing him, the girl in the phoenix mask lowered her head to his mouth in order to hear him more clearly. "Can you-" Ryūnosuke coughed up blood, he noticed some of if splatter on the girl's mask. "sorry. I didn't mean to get blood on your cool mask."

"It's fine, don't worry about the mask, I can clean it later." The girl whispered back reassuringly.

Ryūnosuke smiled "That's good." he replied faintly. He started to ask the girl if she and her friends could take him home. "Can you-" Ryūnosuke paused to swallow down the blood in his throat, as he did he wondered just how much blood he'd lost and where all the blood he'd swallowed so far had gone. That couldn't be good. It suddenly became clear to Ryūnosuke; the one thought he'd been struggling not to focus on. The one thought he simply didn't want to have. "Am I going to die?" the question slipped out flatly with a childish innocence --perhaps "obliviousness" was the better word for it. Ryūnosuke heard the phoenix girl shudder behind her mask and the teenager choked up a sob, the flow of his tears thickened as the realization dawned on him. "I don't wanna die... I don't wanna die." In that instant Ryūnosuke saw imagines of his mother, waiting for him at the doorway of their old home in Osaka. She was smiling and waving to him. Then the image changed. Now, his mother was sitting in a cold dark dining room, curled up alone on the couch and crying while he watched from a distance. "I can't die here." Ryūnosuke choked. "I can't die yet. I have to get home to mom and tell her-" Ryūnosuke sniffled, "I have to tell her I'm sorry."

The girl with the phoenix mask gasped and suddenly embraced Ryūnosuke in a hug. "Don't talk, save your breath!"

Ryūnosuke tried to nod but he noticed he couldn't move his neck. He swallowed blood again as he mind drifted to another thought. "Mint chocolate really smells nice... I wonder if it will be the last thing I smell."

"Just keep breathing!" The girl ordered, no doubt after having felt the heaves of Ryūnosuke chest suddenly grow more shallow than before.

Ryūnosuke tried to inhale deeply, but stopped after just a short gasp as the piercing agony of bones stabbing into his lungs was too much for him to bear. "I-I can't.. it hurts too much to breath... and... I'm so... tired." Ryūnosuke replied lowly and closed his eyes. He saw images of himself; his proudest moments playing Baseball, all his friends and teammates, his first kiss with Akane, the day he met Hina, the mornings they jogged around the neighborhood and the evenings they waved good night to each other from the windows of their bedrooms. Ryūnosuke suddenly recalled everything that have happened to him, every moment of his life leading up to this one. All his dreams and ambitions, all his joy and sadness. The highs and lows. All his anger, guilt, and regrets. The mistakes and wrongs he'd done that he'd never get a chance to right now. "Is this my atonement? Death?" , the teenager wondered. It didn't feel right to him. The thought had crossed his mind many times in the past; 'the world would be a better place without me'. However, death didn't feel like it would change anything at all now. It just felt 'empty'. Pointless.

"No! Don't close your eyes! Stay awake! You have to stay awake!"

Ryūnosuke opened his eyes again to the sound of the phoenix mask girl crying on his chest. He wondered why she was crying, it couldn't have been for him. She didn't even know who he was. "Hey, I need to get home." The teenager whispered hoarsely. He mentally noted that, for all the blood he'd nearly choked on until now, his throat was oddly dry and sore. "My mom is waiting for me." He stated flatly.

"Kanako-chan!" The girl with the phoenix mask shouted out to her comrade, fed up with her lack of response.

... KANAKO ICHIHARA or "Kitsune" as she was known in their group, the group called WILD'S, was completely stunned as she watched the life slowly slip away from the mortally wounded teenager dying in a pool of blood. She stared at him through the eye slits of her white mask. It had two long pointed ears, the face of her mask was that of a mystical fox painted in black and pink. Her short, shoulder-length, sky-blue hair was hidden within the gray hood of her denim jean jacket. "This is so messed up." She mumbled shakily. In terms of combat capability, Kanako was ranked third in WILD'S, right behind Byakko and Kappa. She'd been in WILD'S for two months now, just like Juri, they called her "Houou". In fact, as Juri was practically her adopted sister, they'd joined WILD'S together. In just those two months, Kanako had fought and slain countless Hollows. A few times she or one of the others had been wounded, but never anything like this. She thought the idea of WILD'S was cool, 'a bunch of teenagers teaming up to fight a secret evil that most people weren't even aware of'. They were awesome, badass --just like Super Sentai Rangers or something. Most importantly, they were the superheroes, bad stuff like this wasn't supposed to happen on their watch. No one was supposed to actually die.

"Kanako-chan!", Juri shouted and snapped Kanako out of her daze. Even so, it didn't change the fact that there was likely nothing Juri could do at this point. Juri was ranked 4th in WILD'S for combat capabilities. It wasn't just because she was the youngest member at only fourteen years of age. Juri was also small and frail, and her powers were not at all suited for battle. That didn't mean Juri was powerless, though. In fact, Juri might have possessed the strongest ability of them all. Her healing and regenerative capabilities were unlike anything someone would think possible, and she was only stronger if she used her new Aspect of The Phoenix ability. Still, as Kanako stared down at the teenager boy who'd taken on Baron Quadhorn (a Hollow they couldn't even face all together as a group) single-handed, she wondered at what cost had he done so. It was a shame, the boy was kind of handsome and he was definitely strong. It was unfortunate they weren't able to assist him sooner, and it was partially Kanako's fault. The girl with the kitsune mask grabbed her right arm. It was so bizarre to know that it had been broken no less than 10 minutes ago but now it felt as if she was never wounded at all. That was the power of Juri's Time Heals. Unfortunately, tending to Kanako's injury had delayed the group's arrival at the scene of Quadhorn's attack. "If we'd just arrived sooner-"

"Out of the way, Kitsune.", ordered Kappa as he rushed past Kanako and sat next to Juri at the strange boy's side. He had the teenager's baseball bat in his left hand. "Kitsune, help Byakko secure the area." He added stern.

"R-right! Got it!" Kanako replied, composed herself, and darted off.

... IWA SATO known within WILD'S as "Kappa" and the "number two" after Byakko, sucked his teeth behind his mask as he assessed the wounds of dying teenager who'd fought off and nearly defeated Baron Quadhorn. "Doesn't look good at all.", he mumbled. The Houou, Juri, shook her head lightly between a sob. The wounded teenager looked at Iwa directly and Iwa could see the light of life was almost completely gone from his eyes. "P-please", the teenager stammered weakly. "I need to see my mom. We live is a black house... it looks like a box."

Iwa clenched his fingers around the grip of the teenager's bat. He couldn't let him die, not after they'd failed to arrive on time, not after what they'd seen him do --especially not after what they'd seen him do. "Houou, can you save him?" Iwa asked flatly, although, he was sure he knew the exact answer and the precise circumstances under which Juri would be able to save the teenager, if she could at all. Juri nodded and replied shakily, "I-I think I can, but-"

Iwa placed his hand firmly on Juri's shoulder. Just as he suspected, he already knew the answer. "You'd have to use your Aspect?"
-----

... JURI KENZAKI nodded. "I'm afraid his injuries are too severe for my Time Heals, but I'm pretty sure I can save him with my Aspect ability. No, I'm certain of it!", she declared confidently. Juri, the "Houou" had never been uncertain about her place in WILD'S. She was more aware than anyone that she couldn't fight; moreover, she hated violence to begin with. During most missions, if things went according to Iwa's plans, there was rarely even a need for her to be around. However, that didn't make her useless. Whenever anyone got hurt, she was the one they came to, because she was the one with the ability to heal. Her Fullbring, "Time Heals" allowed her to rapidly accelerate and amplify the natural healing process, wounds and injuries that took months or years to recover from could be completely healed within a matter of minutes or seconds. There was a condition, however, Juri had to use Time Heals no later than an hour after the wounds had been inflicted and each time she used Time Heals a portion of her hair turned white.

Upon joining WILD'S, Juri was bestowed her Aspect Ability and her code name by the co-founder of WILD'S, Miss Mio Sato, Kappa's older sister. Juri's Aspect of the Phoenix immensely empowered her Time Heals Fullbring while also giving her moderate combat capabilities. Juri heard Iwa sigh behind his mask. Kappa's mask was a pale green with a short yellow beak and two black rectangles for eyes. His mask was quite goofy, but anyone who knew Iwa understood that was the point. Iwa wore a beige newsboy cap, and a pale green trench coat to help sell his look. "Juri-chan, I know how dangerous it is for you to use your Aspect and I understand if you don't want to do it. I won't force you." Iwa paused. "But this guy is really amazing, he took on the Baron alone and almost won. In fact, I think he would have won if we were in time to help him." Juri felt Iwa's hand slide off of her shoulder. "If he dies I will take full responsibility... Argh!" Iwa raised his fist and bopped himself on the forehead. "What the Hell am I talking about? Easy for me to say that when I am powerless to save him either way, eh?" Juri heard Iwa's words but she did not response, her eyes were fixed sternly on the dying boy. Her mind raced with her options and her one true desire. For a reason she simply couldn't fully grasp, she wanted to save this boy, no matter what it would cost her. Did she pity him? She didn't know how to describe it. She just sensed a sadness within the boy, a great sadness like the one she'd known before she found Kanako and before she found WILD'S. "No one will blame you if you decide you can't do it. That's the nature of our job. We do the best we can, but we can't save everyone." Iwa's leveled tone suddenly broke with a sob. Juri heard it clear as day and knew that even though she couldn't see it, Iwa was crying behind his mask as well. "But dammit, I really wanna save this guy!" Iwa muttered. "So, Juri-chan..." Iwa shifted his knees to face her directly and bowed his head. "If you can... Please save him!"

"I'll do it!" Juri declared resolutely. She pulled off her mask and revealed her face.
-----

... RYŪNOSUKE, the dying teenager, saw the face of the girl with the phoenix mask as she hovered above him. She had soft features; pale skin with freckles on her cheeks and the bridge of her nose. Her long luscious black hair draped around the sides of her face and was cut short over her forehead in a perfect bowl cut fringe. The entire left side of her bang was snow white. Her large gray eyes reflected light as is they were two small moons and contrasted with the rosy redness of her flushed cheeks. Ryūnosuke blinked as the girl's tears dripped from her eyes to his face. He was much to tired to keep his eyes open now, so he closed them slowly and his thoughts began to slip away into the darkness. Deeper and deeper he drifted away. It was a sad lonely affair, dying; and yet, Ryūnosuke drifted on. He smiled, at least inwardly, as he heard the girl's voice shout out to him through the darkness. "I'll save you!", she promised.
Ryūnosuke chuckled, "That's a nice thing to say." he thought, as his mind faded to black.
