Egriffiend's Night of Wailing [Event Arc]

[Elsewhere In The Baleful Mist] ------ [Oriru] Alice's soul no longer inhabited her body, it was now a part of the Baleful Mist, the collective, and she'd finally come to understand and accept that for the blessing it truly was. She had no need for her mortal body, not when she could be with Lady Tomoe and not when she knew what the alternative was. What Lady Tomoe offered her and the other spirits was the only way for those who entered the mist. Alice was honored to give up her body in order to protect Lady Tomoe no matter what. The soul that currently inhabited Alice's body felt exactly the same way. That soul had been one with the Baleful Mist for 2 years now and had a much deeper understanding and appreciation for Lady Tomoe's actions than Alice. It was only natural that they would be better suited to possess the physical body to defend Lady Tomoe and the cemetery. Even though the body possessed no significant powers of its own, that setback could be counteracted with the power of the naturally superior spirit. The Frenzied Wailer Bride tumbled forwards, losing balance as her arms were bound to her sides by the black Kidō rope. She rolled forwards to her feet and let out a hoarse growl as she pushed her arms outwards, mustered all her might and snapped the black rope to ribbons just as the flying orb flew towards her abdomen. The Frenzied Wailer raised her left palm to the orb and caught it as she continued her charge. She jumped forward, closing in on the Captain with blistering speed, her right arm outstretched for his throat while her left wound back bearing the orb. [-385 HP] [Remaining HP: 915] ------ [Ryūnosuke] Frenzied Wailer Byakko growled as she was thrown on her back. The part of her still partially in control and tethered to her physical body was glad her attack had not landed. Sadly, the same was not the case for the invading spirit possessing the Number Two of WILD'S. To the real Chizuru, seeing the anguish on Ryūnosuke's face was deeply saddening, but more and more as she was assimilated into the mist she also understood why there was no point in him fighting, they all belonged in the mist now. In the Baleful Mist, they could all be together forever. No, that wasn't right. That wasn't her real thoughts. Chizuru mustered the little bit of will power she had and shook her head violently, "NOOOO!" She roared. Suddenly, her right leg swung upwards in a kick aimed for Ryūnosuke's head. No, the kick wasn't her she didn't want to hurt Ryūnosuke... but she couldn't allow him to hurt Lady Tomoe. Byakko rolled forwards to her feet and turned to face Ryūnosuke as her gloves and fists were engulfed in pale blue Reiatsu. Chizuru grunted, she was no longer in control but she recognized which of her power she-- not her but the other spirit-- was using. Her expression momentarily shifted to one of worry. Luckily she knew Ryūnosuke would also recognize the ability as her Taigākura attack. Outwardly, it had no real visible tell, but her glove would now leave three gashes in anything it touched. Chizuru's lips quivered and mist seeped from her jaw as she felt her body being commanded forwards by the invasive spirit. She understood why Ryūnosuke had to be stopped, but she didn't want him to be hurt, it was up to the others to make him see the truth. As her body leaped towards Ryūnosuke and her left fist swung upwards with a punch that would split him open from him navel to his throat, Chizuru collected what little will she had of her own left and shouted out to the boy she loved, "Ryūn, fight me!". [-124 HP] [Remaining HP: 1,176] ------ [Connor] The Frenzied Wailer Policeman's soul, like Chizuru's, was almost entirely assimilated into the Baleful Mist. Just enough of his essence remained within his mortal abode to allow for the full utilization of his Fullbring, Hedozu ō Teruzu, by the spirit that cohabited his body. The Policeman was also capable of very limited speech, at least occasionally. He'd fully embraced the ultimate fate of his soul and body. The truth of the mist was something unforgiving and terrible, but it didn't have to be --not with Lady Tomoe. Lady Tomoe was their savior and what she provided for all the lost souls trapped within the mist should never come under threat or be jeopardized. Those who ignorantly resisted did nothing more than disrupt the peace that Lady Tomoe offered and surely that was an offense punishable by law. The Frenzied Wailer Policeman noted the criminal's attack on him as it happened. He was intrigued by how accurately the attacker evaded the pressure waves of his Hedozu ō Teruzu. Also, the clever timing of the attack, moving in before the Justice Coin landed in his palm, was also keenly observed. The Frenzied Wailer was nimble enough to evade the first punch simply by twisting his body to the side, the fist missed him and the Justice Coin was almost within his grasp. However, the attacks that followed landed at such a rapid pace that the policeman had no answer for them and was forced to bear their full brunt or risk giving up his Justice Coin temporarily. Though the Frenzied Wailer felt no pain from the electric-charged assault, their affect upon the human body was clear. In addition to the bruises, the body was also momentarily stunned and although the Policeman had caught the Justice Coin again he was unable to immediately retaliate as he'd hoped to. "Damn you!", the policeman growled as mist poured from his mouth and he leaped a dozen feet backwards, expecting the criminal to pursue but hopefully not before the human body recuperated. One thing was certain this criminal was strong, a huge threat that needed to be stopped now at any cost. [-428 HP] [Remaining HP: 772] ------ [Masato] The child and her stuffed rabbit made no visible reaction to the movements of the cyan-coat clad Fullbringer. It wasn't until the man's unique blade was caught halfway into the giant stuffed rabbit's torso that the spirit in control of the little girl's body revealed their nature as a Frenzied Wailer. Masato's blade would be caught and grabbed by the white cotton stuffing that made up Mimi's (the rabbit's given name) insides. Masato's attempts at issuing a followup attack resulted in no more than tearing a bit further into the stuffed rabbit and enraging it further beyond that. The nameless child turned and faced the adult with her eyes widened and head tilted dramatically to the side, her ear almost touched her shoulder. "Why did you hurt Mimi?", she whispered as mist poured out from her mouth and cascaded to her feet like a waterfall. The child's arm suddenly shot up in a full point in Masato's direction and Mimi's reaction was instantaneous. The stuffed rabbit bent backwards, slammed it's head and slapped its long pink ears against the ground with a tremor. "You made Lady Tomoe angry and you hurt Mimi. So now Mimi will hurt you back, it's only fair." The little girl commented as Mimi jumped backwards aiming to drop down over Masato with an left elbow slam. [-230 HP] [Remaining HP: 420] ------ [Hitsuyona] The Frenzied Wailer Groom growled loudly as the flying orb collided with his abdomen. The hit knocked him back several feet, but that was just the distance he needed to see the threads as they flew towards him. The Frenzied Wailer Groom caught the threads in his hands and held them tightly, even as the electric current shocked through his entire body and caused more mist to spew from his jaw. Kanada's body continued its forwards charge, threads in hand and at peak speed. He would attempt to violently headbutt the former-Captain twice before all while thrashing his arms to loop the threads in both hands around Hitsuyona's neck. The Shinigami would hang for meaning to harm Lady Tomoe. [-180 *Oriru Orb] [-252] [Remaining HP: 868] ------------------------

Egriffiend's Night of Wailing [Event Arc]

With the defeat of the second wave the strongest of the wanderers all made their fleeting escapes from the droves of hundreds upon hundreds of Rotted Wailers that would have continued to attack them; endless horde after endless horde. Although they had made some progress, the reality was that neither of the groups were any closer to finding or stopping the mistress of the Baleful Mist. There was no rush however, as by sunrise they would all become one in the Baleful Mist. That was the fate that awaited them all. Still, oh how Egriffiend hated to see them suffer. If only they understood the pointlessness of their struggle. For their sake, Egriffiend would show them the futility of their fighting, and the inevitability of their shared fate. End of Act One ------ ACT TWO Egriffiend's shrieking howl of terror was heard throughout the entire cemetery and in every crevasse touched by the Baleful Mist. The horrible and ominous cry was unlike anything any of the beings stranded within the Baleful Mist had heard before. It shook bones and strangled hearts. It weighed down on them like icy talons of terror piercing their shoulders as it pressed down on them from above; they might have even felt the shakiness in their knees. There were intense unexplainable stings of pain behind their ears that lasted for minutes following Egriffiend's cry. There was no way to pinpoint the origin of Egriffiend's voice, just alike the mist, it seemed to come from everywhere at once, even from below. ------ Chance of Encounter: 75% (Frenzied Wailers Incoming) [Oriru - Hitsuyona] At the sound of Egriffiend's cry the vortex of Baleful Mist, bearing the spirit of Ginger Genshi and many other trapped souls, unraveled from its swirling form and into a single wailing cloud of mist that rapidly swept over the heads of Captain Oriru Kusho and former Stealth Force commander Hitsuyona Shizukesa from behind. As the cloud joined the mist in front of the two Shinigami it seemed that they were alone and free to roam the cemetery in search of answers and revenge. The path walked by Oriru and Hitsuyona would eventually bring them to the entrance of a Sakura garden. They could hear the ominous rustling of the tree branches as the Baleful Mist wafted between the trees and over the grass. Before either of the Shinigami could decide whether or not to enter the Sakura garden, two figures emerged from behind the trees and into the moonlight. They were Wailers, but something was distinctly different about them. For one, they possessed distinct Reiatsu signatures that seemed to dangle freely from the collective of the mist as a single strand that tethered the figures to the Baleful Mist. As if they were fruits connected to a single branch. Secondly, unlike the bodies of the Rotted Wailers, these bodies were impossible to mistake for the long-since departed. These bodies, although bruised up in places, did not appear to have been buried at any point. Their skin tones were markedly pale, and their eyes were grey as the mist that poured from their mouths and steamed from their forms. Without warning the two Frenzied Wailers attacked the Shinigami, they grunted out howls and shrieked as they attacked. The Frenzied Wailer that attacked Oriru had the body of a young female with short blonde hair. She was topless with the tattered remains of a white ballgown covering her from the hips down. There was a fake stab wound drawn in the center of her bust with red body-paint and black makeup smeared under her eyes. The Frenzied Wailer that charged Hitsuyona was bare from the waist down but sharply dressed in a black suit jacket with a white dress shirt complete with a black bow tie. Besides the bow tie, there was one other thing around the man's neck: a cable wire formed a noose by which the man had fictitiously hanged himself. The Frenzied Wailers attacked hard and fast and they were not the only worry for the two Shinigami. It would not be long before the swarms of Rotten Wailers closed in once again. ------ [Connor - Masato - Ryūnosuke] The immense release of Reiatsu outputted by the young Tengu-masked Fullbringer had indeed served its purpose by temporarily clearing the mist for the three humans and expanded their field of vision as intended. As the three flew through the air Egriffiend's cry sounded within the mist and each of the humans would suddenly feel "lighter" both in body and spirit, as if a great part of them had been lost to the mist. The Tengu-masked teen would feel it the hardest; an unknown consequence of having released so much Spiritual Pressure at that moment. The field of view for the three humans would rapidly behind to close, but not before they were all able to make out a marble road decorated with stone lanterns on either side. The Tengu and Hizorashi might have recognized it as a sandō, the pathway leading directly to the shrine. They had blurred over pathway from the side, which placed the shrine behind them to either their right or left. Sadly, none of the three humans would have the time to fully think out their next course of action. The gravestone that emerged from the mist below was not seen by any of them. In fact, even as it struck the Tengu-masked teen in the left side of his head, his two companions would not be aware of the attack until they found themselves rapidly approaching the ground as their flying comrade dropped out of the sky to their side and disappeared into the mist. It was yet to be seen if Connor and Hizorashi were also separated, but it mattered not to the three Frenzied Wailers that attacked them. When Connor landed the Frenzied Wailer waiting for him had the appearance of the average police officer, except for the fact that he very clearly possessed a Fullbring. A gold coin that he flipped in his left palm over and over. With even the narrowest of focus given to the officer, Connor would realize that every time the officer caught the coin in his palm an invisible wave of pressure would either strike downwards from above or shoot upwards from below, these forces could be distinguished in the movement of the mist. Masato was confronted by a child who appeared to be no older than twelve years old. At the child's side was a giant stuffed toy rabbit with pink fur and two button eyes. The rabbit was in the process of casually plucking a gravestone out of the ground as if it were a small pebble. Then, as the child pointed her finger directly at Masato, the stuffed rabbit catapulted the gravestone at Hizorashi with blistering speed. Possibly informing him of how Tengu had been attacked just moments ago. Lastly, the youngest of the three Fullbringers landed in a meadow facing a sakura garden. When he finally regained his balance, he too was met by a Frenzied Wailer. However, unlike his two comrades, the Frenzied Wailer that confronted him had the body of someone whom the teenager was very familiar with and shared a deep bond. Certainly, though their face was also hidden behind a mask --the mask of the White Tiger, Byakko-- there was no mistaking it in Tengu's eyes. The person charging towards him with their first drawn back and prepared to strike him down was Chizuru. [Instructions: Defeat the Frenzied Wailers. Frenzied Wailers are NOT deceased. It may be possible to save them later... but at what risk?] ------------------------ -----

Egriffiend's Night of Wailing [Event Arc]

[Elsewhere In The Baleful Mist] ------ Chance of Encounter: 75% (Second Wave Incoming) [Connor - Ryūnosuke - Masato] Merely moments after the defeat of the first wave of Rotted Wailers the howls and shrieking of the second wave of the horde began. Near Connor, several of the Rotted Wailers jumped down on him, having at some point climbed branches of the surrounding dead trees. Others simply ran at him from all around. Several of the Rotten Wailers began to violently latch onto the lines of threads connecting the trio, as if they were targeting the threads specifically. They pulled the threads from both ends. Two groups of Rotted Wailers attacked Masato directly from his right and left. As he followed Masato's thread Ryūnosuke would eventually come face to with some of the Rotted Wailers pulling the thread. A few would shift the focus to him and charge directly at him while a greater wave of crawling Rotted Wailers circled him, they stick just within of his view and periodically pounce through the air at him. As the trio dealt with the immediate threat, hundreds upon hundred of Rotted Wailers would begin to mass around their location. There seemed to be no hope of the attacks ever stopping. ------ [Oriru - Hitsuyona] There would be no moment of rest for the captain, former-commander, and the well-read Lieutenant. As the mist all around them began to violently spin into a vortex that towered six meters into the sky and closed off at the top, forming a dome. In the eye of the storm were Oriru, Hitsuyona, and Genshi. The bodies of the defeated Rotted Wailers rattled all over the ground before they were sucked up into the vertex of mist that howled and wailed from all around. Outside of the vortex hundreds of Rotten Wailers stood idle, surrounding the spinning body of mist. Periodically droves of the Rotted Wailers would suddenly charge towards the vortex and be sucked into it. The Shinigami could see the countless decaying corpses spinning and wailing within the dense swirling haze. The black rods of Reiatsu could also be seen dissipating into the gust of Baleful Mist. Without warning the Rotten Wailers would begin to shoot inwards upon the three Shinigami. There were several Wailers that targeted Oriru's orbs directly. They would attempt to latch onto the orbs and pull them back into the mist vortex while others charged for Oriru himself. Hitsuyona had been closest to the wall of the vortex when it formed, a pair of decays arms reached out for him from within the vortex and grabbed his shirt from behind, lifting him into the air. Other limbs would also reach out for his arms, legs, and face and attempt to pull him into the vortex. Genshi was the least fortunate of the three. Ten Rotten Wailer's shot out of the mist upon her at once and quickly dragged her towards the vortex of Baleful Mist. Genshi struggled to fight her way free, but to no avail. Her right arm was first pulled into the vortex and she screamed in pain. She managed to jerk her arm free for a moment. Except she hadn't. The Lieutenant looked down, stunned in horror, and gawked at the place where her right forearm should have been. There was only a stub there now, that appeared to be transforming into a gaseous stream of Reiatsu that was being sucked into the vortex. Genshi turned her head to face Oriru and show him, but just as she made eye contact a decaying skeletal arm wrapped it five fingers of long curled and filthy nails around the back of her head and Genshi was yanked into the vortex, her body quickly evaporating into a mist of Reiatsu and for a moment Oriru alone would here a distinct wail that was Genshi's as her soul joined Nyujin's in the collective of Shinigami souls trapped within the mist. [Instructions: Survive/Escape. Defeat the wave and attempt to leave before more Rotted Wailers have the chance to target you. This wave is a bit more difficult and designed to force you guys to discuss a strategy OOCly to use your combined abilities to resolve the situation as efficiently and creatively as possible.] ------------------------
  4. Egriffiend

Egriffiend's Night of Wailing [Event Arc]

The arrival of the unnatural storm that loomed above the cemetery would expose an unknown property of the Baleful Mist that would unfortunately go almost entirely unnoticed. As thunder and lightning boomed in the heavens and registered as distant rumbles and flashes of light to those stranded within the mist. Wafts of harrowing grey veil rose high into the storm clouds and encompassed it. Though the storm showed no detectable signs of dissipation, its essence was surely being assimilated into the twisted and malformed miscellany spiritual pressure that was the Baleful Mist. This strange phenomenon was an ever present reality in the mist that very rarely occurred on a scale large enough to be noticeable. Of all the doomed souls wandering the mist and being slowly consumed by it, there was only one who would possibly notice the very faint distinction of the storm's Reiatsu permeating throughout the mist in a constant disarrayed flux. That one person was Connor Knight, who possessed a unique ability that sharply enhanced his senses, including his ability to sense spiritual pressures. To Connor, and anyone who possessed sensory enhancement abilities similar to his, essence of the storm cloud --and, by direct extension, essence of one Hitsuyona Shizukesa-- would appear to be ever present in the storm. Coincidentally, with just the passage of a few more minutes, Connor Knight's own Spirit Pressure would similarly distinguish itself within the thousands of presences in the mist. The mist would mysterious appear to thicken around the sources of these spiritual outputs, but that fact too would go largely unnoticed. From the perspective of those wandering within, they were all equally trapped. This was certainly true. They were all equally trapped and equally doomed. However, perhaps some fleeting solace could be had in the knowledge that some would face the inevitable sooner than others. ------ Chance of Encounter: Guaranteed. [Connor - Ryūnosuke - Masato] The Baleful Mist watched three particular wanderers at the destination they had been guided to through its distinguished power over their kind. Alas, the mist was not able to guide them to the exact location it desired. These three souls were much to heavy and for now, the mist would be unable to move them again. It mattered not, there were other means. Several thousands of them. The mist would quickly invade invisible barrier surrounding Connor and his comrades and again cloud their visions to about six feet outwards. It would whistle lightly as it engulfed the once cleared space. The mist fell into an unnatural and ominous silence that lingered for the longest twenty-seven seconds any of the three had ever lived. Then the wails and howls began just as hands of bone and decayed flesh lunged outwards from the Baleful Mist. The decayed hands, attached to decayed arms, attached to decayed shoulders, attached undead bodies that sprung from the clouded veil and upon the three humans from seemingly every direction at once. The awakened undead clawed forth, unearthing themselves from graves all around the trio. They thrashed at the humans with their airs and gnawed at them with mouths that out-poured mist like smoke. The undead were quick, but their range of motion we noticeably impaired --limited to mindless thrashing, biting and tackling. Still they were ever persistent in their assault, attacked in droves, and in any manner that they physically could. The horde of undead noticeably seemed to have distinct targets and at this moment, Connor Knight appeared to be the primary target. ------ [Oriru - Hitsuyona] After passing through the gate Oriru and Hitsuyona would soon come upon a grassy hill split in two halves by a stoned path riddled with two seas on graves on both sides. If they inspected the hill, the surveillance orbs of Oriru's Zanpakutō would clearly see the gravestones. Though very unlikely, given the thick coat of mist that covered the hill, the orbs might have even seen the pits dug out in front of each of the graves. In either case, the hordes of undead wailed as the charged from the sides of the hill, directly at Oriru and Genshi. The horde that attacked Hitsuyona did not attack from the hill, rather they stormed the storm-herding Vaizard suddenly from behind. Bursting into the cemetery from the gates and scaling over the brick walls by the hundreds. Task Force Commander Nyujin and rest of entirety of the Shinigami forces that had been left behind just moments prior were nowhere to be seen amidst the massive wave of decay. Their shouts and cries, however, could be clearly heard as flashes of Reiatsu were faintly detected through the mist, likely the Shinigami fighting their damnedest to hold back the unstoppable horde. Nyujin's repeated orders for his subordinates were heard for only seconds before his voice too went silent. No matter what action was taken it would be too late for the them. Should the pair of Captains and Lieutenant Genshi survive the encounter and seek out their comrades, they would find no one. Each and everyone one of the Shinigami left behind would be gone without a trace. All throughout the cemetery and within the reach of the Baleful Mist, the wanderers were similarly attack. Countless cries of terror could be heard echoing through the distance and carried into the deepest depths of the Baleful Mist directly to Egriffiend's pale ear. She responded with a shrill cry of her own in turn. Her Night of Wailing had finally begun. [Instructions: Survive. Free-Form Battles: In the case of the horde NPCs everyone is allowed to use their techniques and abilities freely for the purpose of the story. The only restriction is that you are allowed only 8 Attacks per post. Players are also allowed to assist their allies in defeating the NPCs not targeting them personally.] ------------------------ -----

Egriffiend's Night of Wailing [Event Arc]

As the sun faded from sight, so too did any hope of escape for those unfortunate or unwise enough to be within a hundred steps from the gates and walls of the old cemetery. Such were the bounds of the mist's harrowing reach and the range of its horrible terrors. The mist was the grey of ashes, with a cool dampness it the touch. It crept forth from no single point of origin, nor did it crawl eerily over the landscape from an epicenter. The mist had but simply appeared. It was nowhere, and then it was everywhere. Between the stone grave markers, between every twisted branch of every twisted tree, between the pickets of the metal gates and the cracks in the red brick walls. The mist touched everything and everyone within it. It saw everything and everyone within it. Those who attempted to escape the mist would come to realize the futility of such endeavors. When one appeared to leave the mist from one place they would simply find themselves back within it in another. The Shinigami had thought themselves equipped and prepared for the encounter, they'd indeed been the one with the greatest amount of preparation. Alas, it was all in vain. Their communication devices and techniques --along with those of any other-- would all cease to function; reduced to transmitters of white noise and static or worst: nothing at all. Of all the mist's new wanderers, none could have planned for terrifying realization that any and all attempts to sense or track anything within the mist would also prove fruitless. The mist provided it own Reiatsu signature, a mangled and twisted presence of thousands upon thousands of spiritual presences --including those of the newly strangled-- all mixed and stirred into a ominous abomination. Though the mist could be temporarily parted and swayed by the like of wind-based techniques, the effects of such techniques would last for but a fleeting moment before the mist engulfed all once more. As baleful Mist would encompassed all those present, and flowed freely between each person individually, it would pass through their vision for but a moment. When it finally cleared all the humans would find themselves in a new location. The only indication of where they now were was the ever-present mist and the gravestones that surrounded them. How had they gotten here? None of the Shinigami would have been displaced by the veil of mist. Although perhaps they would hear rapid footsteps within the mist just moments before the mist moved past their eyes. The humans would have seemingly vanished within that time, one second there and gone the next. [Instructions: Feel free to describe your surrounding area, just to set up where you've started in the cemetery. All the Shinigami are still where were before. The mist did not warp them anywhere.] ------------------------ ------------------------
  6. On the evening of October 31st a thick harrowing mist will yet again engulf the grounds of the old Karakura Cemetery for the third year in a row. On this night alone, it is said that lost souls of the dead --stirred awake by the mist's mysterious paranormal powers-- wail and lament their own misfortune. Their cries can be heard from sunset until dawn. Countless souls, brave and curious alike, have dared to enter the mist on the Night of Wailing, none have ever returned. The mist claims all, the dead and the living, indiscriminately. Soul Society Report: Our intelligence shows that if the past two years are anything to go by, the Night of Wailing can almost certainly be expected to occur again. There have mysteriously been no Hollow sightings in the cemetery in the few days leading up to October 31st. In the past two years the Gotei 13 dispatched multiple task force teams to investigate the mysterious mist. All contact with these teams was immediately lost upon their entering the mists, none of the Shinigami and scientists involved have return or been heard of since. Our reports also verify that the mists have expanded with each subsequent sighting. There is a strong suspicion that a powerful Hollow is involved. However, due to the nature of the mists and the lack of substantial information surrounding it, not much else is known. As part of the 3rd Night of Wailing Task Force, your duty is to uncover the nature of the mists and eliminate the creature(s) responsible. Interaction with spiritually aware humans and Quincy based in the area is to be expected. Stay on task, but the use of force is permitted should they jeopardize your mission objective. ------ World of The Living Report: By one way or another, information regarding the Night of Wailing has reached you. The local news broadcasts have all been warning civilians to stay clear of the Cemetery for the past week, but tonight there is a particular emphasis on it. They are really trying to push "active gang of kidnappers and human-traffickers" narrative, but you at the very least suspect there are other forces at play. Whatever the case with these Nights of Wailing is, it's serious enough to have even the police involved; actively sending off curious teens and aspiring paranormal film-makers. You too are ultimately drawn to the gates of the old cemetery, joined by dozens of others like you and also full-fledged Shinigami. ------ ACT ONE [10 Minutes Until Sunset] The old cemetery lies tucked away in an abandoned corner of old Karakura Town, isolated from the rest of society by its discrepant red brick walls. Although, weather-beaten and tolled by the passage of decades, the walls stand unyielding; as if bound by and in honor of an eternal duty to contain that which they contained within. Like a battered guardian manning their post even in the face of certain and immanent peril. Upon the simplest inspection, one may be compelled to wonder, "If not by an unwavering adherence to a sacred duty, by what other powers had the walls not crumbled away to ruin?" The cemetery could be accessed through six picketed iron gates. There was once a time, very long ago, when the iron gates shone like polished obsidian and the golden ornamented railheads gleamed like stars in the night sky. Alas, the passage of time had proved equally cruel to the once proud gates. Robbed by age, the gate no longer possessed their luster. Instead, left in its place were terrible crusted coats of rust, like dried bloody scabs below the rips and tears of flaked black and gold paint. The gates were all closed and locked this evening, they stood almost a sturdy as the walls, but far from as silent. With each passing breeze, the iron gates whined at the hinges. Looking in through the picket gaps of any of the iron gates, one could see that the cemetery appeared to stretch out as far as the eye could see; beyond the horizon, over and below bends and dips in the landscape. Gravestones, numbering in the thousands, in varied shapes, sizes, and states of upkeep collectively formed a forest of stone monuments between which the winds howled. As sunset approaches, those who have managed to sneak pass the police officers, who have barricaded off all roads leading to the cemetery, begin to assemble at each of the six gates. No one truly knows what the Night of Wailing will bring or what horrors dwell within the old cemetery. Still, as the hands of the clock tick down to the anticipated hour and the sun slowly fades below the horizon, a creeping sense of dread befalls many and the weaker-willed attendees. Some have already come to their senses and begun to turn tail. Unfortunately, of the strong-willed and foolhardy who remain, there are plenty... [Instructions: Your Night of Wailing will start soon, post your arrival at the cemetery, you're more than welcome to include your motivation for joining and any interactions with the others gathering there.] ------------------------ Information [Will be updated regularly as the event progresses] ------------------------ ACT ONE 1- At Sunset the Cemetery and a large area around it was suddenly covered by a dense mist that appear to come from nowhere at all. All human characters suddenly found themselves stranded in one part of the cemetery, even those who hadn't even entered the gates yet. The Shinigami have begun their coordinated effort to find the being or beings responsible for the Night of Wailing. Niebla Nefasta (Baleful Mist): 2-

    Blunt Trauma

"You keep blabbing on about killing me over and over." The boy muttered coldly and stomped on Quadhorn's bottom right horn. "Get away from me, you maggot!" the Hollow bellowed, as he thrashed his one good leg and arm behind him, attempting to reach for the boy at an impossible angle, but even with all his struggle he could not seem to shake the boy off of him. "How dare you place your foot on me, I am the great Baron Quadhorn!" The Baron was cut off as the boy spoke to him directly again. "It's really pissing me off. So, why don't you try it." The Baron watched as the boy raised his bat high above him and suddenly flared his Spiritual Pressure again. "W-Wait, hold on!" The Hollow started to beg, but them remembered his place as a being much greater than the pathetic human, there was no way his pride would allow him to beg for mercy. Impossible! "Listen to me you miserable-!" "DIE!" The Baron managed only a shrill gasp as the strike crashed down on his horn with an exploding boom and crunch as the asphalt under him crumbled to bits. The Hollow felt as if his face had suddenly been crushed under the weigh of a hundred tons of force. His eyes bulged outwards with each strike; both of them popping clear out of their sockets felt more like an inevitability than an actual paranoia. There was nothing irrational about the Baron's fear at that moment. Enraged, the Hollow began to shout, but managed only to slur his words, "Y-you... fuwa-kin' homan-!" "DIE!" The boy struck again, and the Baron felt his brain bash against the inside of his skull as blood shot out of his ears. "I...k-k-k-kil KILL YO-" The third strike landed and The Hollow completely lost consciousness. It was the impact of the fourth strike that stirred him back awake. As the Baron blinked his eyes open slowly, he seemed to have momentarily forgotten where he was entirely. Aside from the unbearable throbbing pain that rumbled on in his head like an earthquake of agony, the Baron had lost all control of his body from the waist down. He was deaf in both ears, but only blind in his left eye. With the other, he could see double of the human boy standing over him. Just standing over him, visibly terrified and seemingly unable to move. "Heh-" The Hollow snickered as he shakily leaned forwards, the boy naturally began to fall over backwards and he had only just begun to fall when the great Baron built his energy in the palm of his right hand and smacked the boy through the air with all his might. He groaned at the satisfaction of feeling and hearing several of the boy's bones snap and break against his palm right before the puny human careened through the air and landed sickeningly on the pavement 20 meters away. "HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!" The Hollow cackled, pleased that his strike had without doubt critically injured the boy, who would most likely die within minutes if he hadn't died already. Still, the Hollow grunted afterwards, in his blind rage, he'd knocked his prey too far away, now he'd have to crawl other to the human in order to devour it. The Baron wasted no time, rolled over on his belly and began to drag his body across the tarmac, it was an extremely slow and extremely excruciating endeavor but one the Hollow took nonetheless; all while salivating at the mouth with anticipation. Oh, how he would enjoy devouring the flesh and soul of this human boy. It was true the best feast was a feast hard earned and surely he'd earned this one. There was no doubt, that immense Reiastu the human boy had displayed, that he had locked within his fragile body, that was the final component. The prime ingredient to trigger the Baron's next evolution. "Fucking human... you're mine! All that Spiritual Power... It's mine! HA HA HA!" The Hollow muttered and grunted proudly as he crawled to the boy at a snail's pace, but with the eagerness of a tiger running down it's prey. "Hehahha, boy, I'm gonna eat you!" The Baron teased, drool pouring from the sinister grin of his jaws. Then, the Hollow's grin suddenly twisted into a frown. "NO!" He roared as he sensed the other Reiatsu signatures lurking in the direction of the boy. It was those annoying masked humans again! They'd finally shown themselves, or had they been there all along. "NO!" The Baron suddenly began to claw at the pavement much more aggressively, trying to hasten his pace to his rightful prize. "NO! NO! NO! NO!" Much to his rage and frustration, there was no point, he'd barely moved any faster and, as if to spit in the face of his greatest dream and ambition, four shadows formed around the boy. "YOU FUCKING MASKED BASTARDS!" The Hollow roared, slamming his fist on the pavement causing it to quake. The four shadows visibly shuddered, just as they always did in his presence. Normally, they dared not approach him, in fact at his best he could easily take them all on. However, in his current state, he'd be lucky to get one of them. It enraged the Baron to no end. After all his hard effort, all he endured, and while his ultimate prize was right there in front of him, not even 10 meters away, he had no choice but to retreat. "YOU-" The Hollow spat, frothing at the serrated jaws of his mask, "YOU COWARD COCKROACHES! HOW DARE YOU! HOW DARE YOU DENY ME MY HUNT!" The Baron slammed his fist again. "GIVE HIM TO ME! GIVE HIM TO ME, DAMN YOU!" The Baron begged, though he knew the masked ones would not listen. He watched as the two "strongest" masked humans stepped forwards, out of the darkness, and into the light of one of the street lamps. They were the Kappa and the Byakko. They spoke no words, but advanced with caution as the other two followed closely behind them, the Houou and the Kitsune. "COCKROACHES!" The Baron cried again, a pool of black energy formed on the ground beneath him, a portal back to the Hollow home realm of Hueco Mundo. The agony of being forced to retreat pained the great Baron more than any of the wounds the boy had inflicted, but Quadhorn knew his current position. Roaches that they were, he could not now see them as such now. They were a pack of cackling hyenas -and he was a wounded lion. "I WILL BE BACK, I WILL TAKE WHAT'S RIGHTFULLY MINE AND THEN I WILL MASSACRE ALL OF YOU RODENTS!" He roared his promise as his form lowered into the portal as if being swallowing beneath the surface of a black sea. The Kappa and Byakko began to chase, but they were too late. As the Great Baron retreated safely he bid them a final harrowing threat. The volleys of small metal projectiles took the Baron by complete surprise. He left arm was utterly defenseless as the 12 bits of heated metal shot through the already brutalized flesh of his tentacle, penetrating it like bullets; but at least his face was protected. The Hollow shouted out in pain as the coins burnt his arm from the inside. However, the boy did not relent and attacked once again; emboldened by the fact that his projectile attack had distracted Hollow. Quadhorn had barely recovered from the coin attack when he felt a sharp pain in the side of his left knee. Simultaneously, there was a sickening crack sound as the Hollow's felt its knee snap and bend in a direction it should never bend in naturally. As the Baron collapsed on it's left side, the Hollow instantly realized that the boy was now behind him, and although he was too far into his fall to catch himself, that did not mean that he could not defend himself or even attack. The Baron twisted his body clockwise as he fell, swinging his muscular right arm backwards and bringing his fist in an earth-bound slam over the boy's head, attempting to flatten him. "JUST DIE, YOU INSECT!" The hollow bellowed in rage. As he landed on his back, the Hollow would turn his head to face the boy. In that moment the Hollow built up an orb of dark green energy at the tip of each of his horns. The great Baron then fired each of the 4 orbs at the human. "DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE!" He roared as each blast blistered towards the boy with an explosive boom. The kickback of each blast caused the Hollow to slide back slightly. The attacks would be weaker than his true Cero, but they were strong enough to distract the boy while the Baron mended the wound on his knee. The boy probably had no idea that the Hollow could twist and harden the fur on his legs and torso in order to form a sort of cast or bandage. In addition to his natural, although limited, regenerative powers as a Hollow, the Baron would be back on the move again soon. ------ - Partially Blocked both Token Bullet Volleys. The great Baron Quadhorn growled as the human blocked his horns. It was not an outcome he'd expected at all, in fact, it had never been done before. To see one of his strongest attacks repelled so easily furthered his anger and frustration. "This should not be possible!" The Hollow thought as he swung his punches down at the human boy who blocked each one with his metal bat. "How is this puny human so powerful?!!" he pondered, growing ever more infuriated. "JUST DIE!!!!" The Baron roared as he raised his arm to strike down with a fourth punch. As his fist beamed down over the human, the boy pointed his bat at the Baron's face and lunged it towards him. The blunt end of the bat bashed dead center in the middle of Quadhorn's mask, at the same moment his fist would have hit the boy's left temple. The Baron reeled back and cried in pain, his tentacle immediately coiled around the spaces between his horns and covered his mask. It was his most effective defensive measure, reserved for only the most dire of situations when the Baron was truly fearful for his life. It ensured no further attacks could reach his mask directly, while also providing a visor-like gap between the defense from which the Hollow could see his surroundings. The enemy would still be in danger from the Hollow's fist and his four horns. Although that fact seemed not to deter the human boy in the slightest. He'd launched himself towards the Hollow and attacked again, landing another three hits on the Baron's tentacle. Quadhorn could see the blood from his horribly battered whip-like limb pouring down over his red eyes and splashing from the boy's bat with every strike. Still, the Baron did not lower his defense. He used to moment that the boy's third swing was closing in to retaliate and swung his fist, trying to hit the boy's left side. He was aware of the possibility that the boy might block but dodging was much less likely. He possibly had the boy cornered. The Baron raised his foot and charged it with his energy before slamming it on the ground, producing a tremor that violently shook the ground once more. This tremor was much stronger than the last and would likely still take effect if the boy was caught in it. However, the Baron would not spare a second to confirm whether or not the tremor worked as planned, instead he would ram his horns forwards again, hoping to viciously drive them through the human's body. ------ - Critically Hit Ryūnosuke's Bat Jab. Blunt Trauma

OOC: Sorry for the delay (T~T) It all happened in a flash for the great hunter Hollow. The Baron could do nothing be stand frozen with awe as the human appeared burst into a vibrant dark-orange flame as an immense amount of Spiritual Pressure suddenly flooded from his form. The Baron had previously chosen this human to be his prey due to having sense a portion of this great Reiatsu that was leaking ever-so-steadily from the boy. However, this was different, the amount of Reiatsu gushing forth from the human now resembled something more akin to a ruptured dam. The sheer intensity and volume of spiritual essence out-pouring from the boy was of a level the great Baron Quadhorn had never witnessed from a human in all the hundreds of years of his existence. In fact, he'd rarely witnessed this level of spiritual power even among the strongest of his own kind. Of course, his Tremor ability was completely negated by the boy's Reiatsu, the ability would have no effect on an entity with such a massive Spiritual Pressure. What the Baron could not fathom was that such a power was possessed by a simple human who couldn't even fully realize the presence of the Hollow merely seconds ago. Quadhorn's jaw formed a grin that stretched the full length of his mask. This boy had proven himself to be the Hollow's greatest prey yet. He thought this as his pointed tentacle, still pierced through the air towards the human at blistering speed. The Baron knew he'd been feasting on the boy's Reiatsu-rich corpse very soon. "What splendid Spiritual Power, I will gobble it all up!" The Baron roared as his tentacle arm reached its target. Suddenly, the boy appeared to blur to the left and the Baron's attack seemed to pass through him. The two attacks on his tentacle landed before the Baron could even comprehend that the human moved. Quadhorn saw and heard nothing of it, it happened too fast, but he could feel it. A severe jolt of excruciating pain that scorched his senses. The Hollow retracted his tentacle and bellowed in agony. His cry was so deafeningly loud it rumbled the air around him. The Hollow's body seemed to move on its own and the Baron jumped a great distance backwards. Once he landed the Baron was overcome with anger at the fact. Why had he retreated? Was it an instinctual? Has his body moved as the result of a subconscious desire to distance himself from a legitimate threat? This puny human, NO, impossible! There was no way this human had frightened him, not even for a second! The Baron observed his tentacle, it was severely bruised and battered in the place it had been struck by the boy's bat. The rough pale green flesh was busted open and swelled, the tear in the flesh resembled the tear in a ripped piece of cardboard. It had cracked terribly under the sheer blunt impact that crushed even the pavement, despite not having touched it. It didn't matter, although seething with pain, the Baron could still use his tentacle. "I will... DESTROY YOU!!" The Baron declared with a loud guttural tone. Enraged, he charged towards the human, lowered his head, and pointed his four horns directly at his target with the intention to impaling him. After that, the Hollow would try to crush the human's body with three massive punches with its right fist aimed for the human's head. ------ - Directly Hit With Both Ryūnosuke's Bat Attacks. Blunt Trauma

The serrated jaws of Baron's Hollow mask split open with a bellowing roar of laughter as the boy charged towards from behind the hedges. "Yes! Show me your fighting spirit!" He cackled as his soon-to-be meal leaped over the bushes and onto the pavement. "Yes, set your soul ablaze with the will to survive!" The Hollow waved his tentacle arm behind him before suddenly whipping it forwards as the human closed in on him. The human wouldn't be hit with split tip of the tentacle but rather the middle of it's length. The boy seemed to be trying to avoid the Baron's right side, but by sticking to the left, he was inadvertently placing himself in the path of Quadhorn's attack. Should the human find a way to by-pass the Hollow's attack he would swing his bat directly at his left shoulder. The Hollow would answer this by thrusting his shoulder leftwards into the human's metal bat. At the same time he began his counter attack. "Fight! Fight and have hope!" He roared; as his tentacle arm finished its previous swing the hollow would adeptly allow it to loop around his front, under his right arm, and around his back. Then, the split ends of his whip-arm would reach for the boy, at precisely the same moment that the Baron shoved his shoulder against the boy's bat. If his tentacle managed to capture its target, the Baron would instantly reverse the rotation of his tentacle, rapidly uncurl it from around the trunk of his form and sling the boy through the air to his left. This time the boy would collide with the hard asphalt. "I will enjoy watching that hope fade drain from your eyes as you beg for your life before I tear you apart and feast on your mangled remains!" The Hollow taunted as the boy soared through the air for a second time. The Baron launched himself through the air just as the boy would land. "HA HA HA!" Quadhorn cackled from above. The Hollow appeared just ten feet above the ground with his right fist raised above his head. The child might have had ample time to dodge the Baron's next move, but it would be impossible for the boy to know that the Baron's next attack wasn't even meant for him. However, if by some stroke of terrible luck the boy did not manage to react in time, he would surely be smashed into a gory paste as the Baron's right fist crashed down onto the street like a meteor. The force of the strike would cause a small crater as well as send a violent tremor through the ground that would surely throw the boy off balance if he was on his feet. That was the opportunity the Hollow sought to finish off his prey. In a dexterous display of control over his tentacle limb, Baron Quadhorn directed his whip-like tentacle to reach out for the boy, wherever he was. Should that be within its seven foot reach. One of its pointed tips would harden, with the intent of skewering the boy through the center of his chest. ------ - First Attack. 1/4 Attacks With 60 Strength - Clashed Ryūnosuke's bat. 2/4 Attacks With 80 Strength So, you would lose the Clash and that would cost you 180 ND. The Hollow let out a booming cackle as the unsuspecting human ran by without any sign of acknowledging that he existed. A peculiar case indeed, it was uncommon for someone with this much Reiatsu to be unable to see Hollows and other spiritual entities. Uncommon, but not impossible. The Baron leaped from the roof top and into the middle of the street, he maintained a large distance between himself and the human still, and simply watched as the boy looked over his shoulders alertly. It seemed that he could sense Quadhorn's presence to a degree, but he couldn't visually detect him. The Baron grinned as he the human threw up his fists defensively, "This could be fun.", he thought. The baron bent his knees slightly in preparation for a charge, at the same time he gradually raised his own spiritual presence, hoping to see in what matter it would trigger his prey, if in any matter at all. He hoped to get a thrilling reaction from the boy and would be surely disappointed if the human remained utterly obvious of the mighty predator that hunted it up to the moment of his death. Then, without warning the Baron sprinted forward at blistering speed, he would reach the boy in just seconds. As soon as the soul was within the range of the Baron's whip left arm, the span of exactly 10 feet, the Hollow would swipe it directly at the right side of the boy's head; regardless of whether the human noticed him or not. The force of his whip arm would be heavy and backed with enough force to obliterate the boy's entire head. ------ 1/4 Attacks With 80 Strength ------------ Wc: 275

    Blunt Trauma

The Baron was on the prowl once again. It had been an unbearably long time since his last hunt, but thanks to the ingenuity of his tactics, he'd managed to elude the watchful eyes of Shinigami and that pesky group of masked humans alike. The key was to have multiple hunting grounds and to make periodic appearances in each, but only truly hunting in the zones that had the least "heat" when the time actually came to feed. Granted, for Baron Quadhorn the time to feed came often. Also a by-product of his preferred hunting habits. Baron Quadhorn was unique, in that he hunted humans with high Spiritual Pressure exclusively. In his eyes, they were the ultimate source of the spiritual sustenance that he needed in order to achieve his highest form of evolution. The assumption was only logical, only the purest of spiritual essence would assure he attained the purest form of his evolution; and if his past exploits were anything to go by, the Baron was right in his assumptions so far. He'd steadily grown stronger with every kill and neared a stage in which none of the humans or Shinigami he'd encountered stood a fleeting chance against him. Even the masked humans who stalked his hunting grounds could do nothing but record his activity and flee once he'd noticed them. Like scurrying rodents, they were no match for the great Baron Quadhorn. The night breeze wafted against his tough green fur as he glided through the air and keenly surveyed the city below, sensing out his next potential victim. The thick, whip-like tentacle that the Baron had in place of a left arm, dangled freely by his side. It was split at the tip, like a serpentine tongue, and although the tentacle had a reach of only seven feet (the Baron's own height) the arm was strong and heavy enough to completely splatter a soul with just a single swoop. His right arm more resembled a humanoid one but his forearm was completely covered in fur and ended with a palm bearing three thick appendages that served as fingers, strong enough to crush anything he captured in his grasp. True to his namesake, surrounding the Baron's Hollow mask were two pairs of horns. The lower-most pair extended from beside his mask, were edged like swords, and curved skywards. The upper pair of horns were cone-shaped and protruded from the green fur above his head. The Baron's bottom half was hidden behind green fur from the waist down to his thick ankles, where his legs finally ended with webbed feet that resembled those of a frog. As he passed over the train station building, the Baron stopped, having sensed a substantial spiritual pressure. He looked down to his right and focused his eyes in the direction from which he sensed the spiritual essence. His vision focused in on a lone soul running straight towards the station. "Perfect", the hollow sneered as he allowed his hulking form to free fall above the station building. He watched to human; a young man wearing a black tracksuit and baseball cap, who also appeared to also have a baseball bat fastened onto his backpack. None of that impressed the Baron, what allured the Hollow was the Reiatsu gushing steadily from the boy's form. It had an intense orange hue and appeared to not be suppressed by the human at all. "Such a waste, but not for long." Declared Quadhorn as he landed atop the station facility, the impact of his landing lightly shook the building, but his target still seemed completely unaware. The Baron stood to his full height at the edge of the rooftop, he'd be impossible for the boy to miss, if the human could indeed see him. Which was the point he wished to confirm.
